Supporting the educational needs of HoA refugees

To assist HoA individuals to acquire skills and confidence in English.

Activities: With free access to accredited English classes in appropriate providers such as Belfast Metropolitan College secured during HAPANI’s previous strategic period, it will now signpost individuals to such opportunities, where appropriate, as well as continuing to support provision in community settings that is user-sensitive and accessible for students with limited literacy skills.

To facilitate access by individuals with refugee status to further education/training and employment.

Activities: HAPANI will continue to collaborate with non-governmental organisations, such as Include Youth and Business in the Community, with a view to fostering individual pathways into employment, volunteering or educational opportunities. It will also continue to seek the waiving of fees for refugees from the region otherwise unable to avail themselves of opportunities in third-level education.
